Specifications and guide

Product Description

Fyr Prima - Elegant and light pine flooring in classic grading.
A pine floor that combines classic Danish building tradition with a light and modern surface. With its narrow plank of 155 mm, this floor is ideal for smaller rooms or homes where a light, elegant, and harmonious look is desired.

The wood is treated with lye and white oil, which effectively prevents yellowing and highlights the beautiful grain of the pine. The white-oiled surface gives the floor a matte, light, and soft finish that both protects and emphasizes its natural appearance.

The Prima grading features a subtle knot pattern and only a few small fillings, providing a classic, uniform look with plenty of warmth and charm. It is an obvious choice for those who want a timeless, light floor with character – without it becoming too rustic.

To ensure a functional and aesthetic floor where the strength and visual integrity of the floor surface are preserved, cracks and knots in this wood type will be filled with specially adapted wood filler and/or hotmelt. Similarly, fallen knots can be replaced with fresh "new" knots adapted to the wood type, so that the color tone and structure are maintained. A Wiking pine plank floor is warm and pleasant to walk on, and has a natural play with knots and rounded edges that accentuate the width of the beautiful planks. Pine is a classic and popular wood type for floors in Scandinavian homes, especially due to its light appearance and natural warmth.

Pine is categorized as a softwood floor and is more susceptible to signs of use. However, these marks are easy to rectify with maintenance, and often most soft marks can disappear with just a floor wash or refreshing of the oil.

On the Brinell scale, which measures the wood's resistance to pressure and wear, pine typically scores around 1.6–1.8 – depending on the growing location and the wood's density. This means that pine is more susceptible to pressure marks, scratches, and other signs of use than harder wood types like oak or ash. Although pine is a softwood, many choose it for its natural charm and ability to develop a beautiful patina over time. With the right treatment, the lifespan of the floor can be extended, and it can be given a surface that is more resistant to everyday use.
