Product Description

CLEARANCE SALE - WHILE STOCKS LAST.

Wiking Nordlys ‘Aslak’ 15x185 – exclusive pine floor with grey hardwax oil.

The Nordlys Series from Wiking Gulve combines sustainability, Scandinavian aesthetics, and high durability in an exclusive collection of softwood floors. The series is created for the quality-conscious consumer who desires natural materials in their home – without compromising on either design or durability.

‘Aslak’ is an elegant pine variant that stands out with its grey hardwax oil, which gives the floor a modern and subdued look. The grey hue gives the room a cool, stylish tone that perfectly matches both minimalistic, Nordic interiors and more rustic environments.

The floor features a brushed surface, where the softer parts of the wood have been removed to increase durability. This creates a robust, textured surface that feels and looks exclusive – ideal for both private homes and businesses where daily use demands high-quality materials.

To ensure a functional and aesthetic floor, thus preserving the strength and visual integrity of the floor surface, this type of wood will feature filling of cracks and knots with specially adapted wood filler and/or hotmelt. Likewise, fallen knots can be replaced with fresh "new" knots adapted to the wood type, so that color tone and structure are preserved. A Wiking pine plank floor is warm and pleasant to walk on, and has a natural play with knots and rounded edges, which highlight the width of the beautiful planks. Pine is a classic and popular wood species for floors in Scandinavian homes, especially due to its light appearance and natural warmth.

Pine is categorized as a softwood floor and is more susceptible to signs of wear. However, these marks are easy to rectify through maintenance, and often most soft marks can disappear with just a floor wash or refreshing of the oil.

On the Brinell scale, which measures wood's resistance to pressure and wear, pine typically ranges around 1.6–1.8 – depending on the growing site and the wood's density. This means that pine is more susceptible to pressure marks, scratches, and other signs of wear than harder wood species like oak or ash. Although pine is a softwood, many choose it for its natural charm and ability to develop a beautiful patina over time. With the right treatment, the floor's lifespan can be extended, and it can be given a surface that is more resistant to everyday use.
