Specifications and guide
Oak Mammoth Fenris – wide and long planks with a lively expression.
With an oak floor from Wiking Gulve, you get the best of a solid wood floor – in a modern and dimensionally stable lamella construction. Oak Mammoth Fenris is created from first-class oak and has a distinctive and lively grading that highlights the wood's natural character and depth.
The Fenris grading features clear grain patterns, natural knot variations, and a raw, authentic expression. You can expect plank floors with repairs and plugs, which emphasize the wood's honest expression and add a special warmth and personality to the floor. It is the obvious choice for those who want a floor with edge and character – and who love the feeling of genuine nature under their feet.
Oak Mammoth Fenris is part of Wiking Gulve's exclusive Mammoth series, which is characterized by extra wide and long planks. This size is particularly well suited for larger rooms with high ceilings, where the format and structure of the planks can truly shine.
Oak is a durable and hard-wearing wood species, belonging to the most sought-after materials for flooring. The natural play of colors ranges from light, golden hues to deeper brown tones, giving the floor a warm and lively expression.
If you prefer a calmer and more uniform floor, we recommend taking a closer look at our Oak Mammoth Freja.
Your mammoth planks are delivered untreated from Wiking Gulve and must be surface-treated after installation and before use. We are of course available to provide good advice in this regard.
Due to the dimensions and weight of the planks, you should be aware that the installation itself may be more difficult. It is crucial that the planks are surface-treated and saturated after installation. This ensures that the wood is protected and easier to clean. Wood is a natural material, and no two planks are alike. Therefore, there will always be a beautiful variation in color and knot patterns. We always recommend that you carefully inspect the planks during installation to ensure the desired expression on the finished surface.
Oak is one of the most widely used and valued wood species for floors – and for good reason. In addition to its classic and timeless appearance, oak is known for its high wear resistance and hardness. On the Brinell scale, which measures the wood's resistance to pressure, oak typically ranges around 3.5 - 3.7. This places oak as a hard wood species, suitable for both private homes and businesses where durability is required.
To ensure a functional and aesthetic floor, so that the strength and visual integrity of the floor surface are maintained, cracks and knots in this wood species will be filled with specially adapted wood filler and/or hotmelt. Likewise, fallen knots can be replaced with fresh "new" knots adapted to the wood species, so that color tone and structure are preserved.
