Specifications and guide

Product Description

Douglas Prestige 22x235 Lye & White Oil – exclusive wide plank flooring with a light finish.
A wooden floor in a class of its own. With impressive wide planks of 235 mm and a substantial thickness of 22 mm, you get a floor that exudes exclusivity and provides a significant architectural impact in the room.

The surface is treated with lye and white oil, which highlights the characteristic grain of Douglas wood and tones down its natural rosy glow. The result is a bright and elegant floor that combines natural warmth with a refined, luxurious expression.

Douglas is a sought-after softwood species, valued for its strength, durability, and unique interplay of colors and structure.

Douglas is part of the softwood family and is a softer wood species. On the Brinell scale, which is used to measure the hardness of wood species, Douglas typically ranges around 1.4 - 1.6, placing it below harder wood types like oak and ash. This means that Douglas floors are more susceptible to pressure marks, scratches, and wear, especially in high-traffic areas or where shoes with hard soles are used.

Due to its grain patterns, this wood type is also prone to crack development in the future if you are not extra careful to saturate the surface with oil or soap after installation and before use, as well as with subsequent care and maintenance. Hairline cracks (up to 0.5 mm in width) may occur in this wood type.

To ensure a functional and aesthetically pleasing floor, thus preserving the strength and visual integrity of the floor surface, cracks and knots in this wood type will be filled with specially adapted wood filler and/or hotmelt. Likewise, fallen out knots can be replaced with fresh "new" knots adapted to the wood type, so that color tone and structure are preserved.
