Specifications and guide

Product Description

Douglas Mammut – exclusive wooden flooring with wide planks and beautiful grain.
This flooring is part of our exclusive Mammut series, featuring extra-wide and long planks. The series is ideal for larger rooms with high ceilings and large window sections, where the dimensions of the floor truly come into their own.

Douglas is a sought-after conifer species, characterized by its unique structure and beautiful grain. Douglas wood has an attractive and light color with a rosy glow – a natural and characterful floor.

The flooring is delivered untreated, allowing you to choose the exact surface treatment that suits your home – whether you desire a light, modern look or a warmer, classic finish.

Douglas is part of the conifer family and is a softer wood species. On the Brinell scale, used to measure the hardness of wood species, Douglas typically ranges from 1.4 to 1.6, placing it below harder wood species such as oak and ash. This means that Douglas floors are more susceptible to pressure marks, scratches, and wear, especially in high-traffic areas or where shoes with hard soles are used. A Douglas wooden floor is a natural product, and just as all trees are not uniform, the finished floor is also beautifully varied in color and structure. The structure of the wood itself consists of varying grain patterns of the light, softer springwood and the darker, slightly harder latewood, which means there can be differences in hardness within a single plank.

Due to its grain patterns, this wood species is also prone to crack development in the future if you are not extra careful to saturate the surface with oil or soap after installation and before use, as well as with subsequent care and maintenance. Hairline cracks (up to 0.5 mm in width) may occur in this wood species upon delivery.

To ensure a functional and aesthetic floor, thus preserving the strength and visual integrity of the floor surface, cracks and knots in this wood species will be filled with specially adapted sanding filler and/or hotmelt. Similarly, fallen knots may be replaced with fresh "new" knots adapted to the wood species, thereby preserving color tone and structure.
