The idea for Strandhotellet arose in 2014, and three years later, we opened on July 1, 2017. The hotel is owned by the married couple Marie Louise and Steffen Ebdrup, who reside in Aarhus but have a great love for Blokhus and North Jutland. With a desire to create a hotel that respects its location, there was only one option: to build an exclusive seaside hotel. Jørgen Ussing from UBN Architects has created a classic building that blends into Blokhus' beautiful architecture and nature.
The building references Danish seaside hotels of the 1920s and 1930s and features the facilities expected of an exclusive hotel in 2017. Originally, Strandhotellet was designed with 10 rooms, but there was a need for more, and we have expanded to 38 lovely double rooms and an apartment in the historic Kancelligård. We want Strandhotellet to be an attractive destination for you all year round with a restaurant, orangery, conference pavilion, wellness, fitness, and lounge. We supplied almost 1,000 m2 of flooring for this fantastic project.
